College Visits

If you wish to visit a college campus, please speak with Ms. Nixon prior to your visit. Also, please bring back a statement from the campus that you visited so your absence will be excused.

You can visit a school anytime by contacting their admissions office and scheduling a visit.

Applying

You may fill out a paper application, although the best and most efficient application process is to submit applications online. If you have a School Counselor page with your application, please bring it to Ms. Johnson.

Recommendations, Resumes & Mission Statements

Most colleges will request 3 letters of recommendation, an academic resume, and a mission statement of your goals.

If you would like a counselor to write a letter of recommendation for a scholarship or college, please bring in that resume of everything you have accomplished during your high school career. Write at the top of the paper what it is for, i.e. Johnny Warren Scholarship. Please allow one week for the counselor to write the recommendation. Don't wait until the last minute.

Transcripts

  • For transcripts to be sent to colleges or for scholarships, a transcript release form must be filled out. The forms are located in Guidance. Students who are not 18 must have a parent sign the release.
  • There is a $1.00 processing fee for every transcript that is sent out. Please give your money to Mrs. Shelton.
  • Transcripts will be sent out within one week of receiving the request form and payment.
  • You are responsible for having your ACT scores sent to the college to which you apply.
  • For graduating seniors, a final transcript must be requested before graduation.

If you need a transcript sent over the summer, please call 615-384-5588.
