GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Students are required to complete a minimum of 26 specified credits.
The 26 required credits for students on an IEP may vary from those listed below.

End of Course exams are given in English I, English II, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Biology, and US History.  The result of these examinations will be factored into the student's final grade.


RANKING

Students must be enrolled at Greenbrier High School Junior and Senior year for ranking purposes.  All the following will be used in determining rank:

  • Must have 8 courses designated as Advanced, AP, and/or Dual Enrollment on transcript
  • Final scores of State Mandated End-of-Course Tests (Biology I, English II, Algebra I) will be used in determining final ranking
  • Highest composite ACT score (on file at the time of calculation) will be used in determining final ranking
  • In the event multiple students are equal on all outlined criteria, multiple valedictorians will be recognized.

GRADUATION HONORS

District Honors:  All requirements for a regular diploma must be fulfilled and must have a 3.5 GPA or higher.

State Honors: All requirements for a regular diploma and must have a 3.0 GPA and score at or above all the subject area readiness benchmarks on the ACT.

Graduation with Distinction:

Students earning Graduation with Distinction will be recognized as graduating with distinction by attaining a 3.0 GPA and completing at least one of the following:

  • Earn a nationally recognized industry certification
  • Participate in at least one of the Governor’s Schools
  • Attain a score of 31 or higher composite score on the ACT
  • Attain a score of 3 or higher on at least two Advanced Placement exams
  • Earn 12 or more semester hours of transcripted postsecondary credit
